This HDB resale project by Hamid & Sons Interior Design Singapore reflects a warm contemporary approach, thoughtfully balancing new design elements with existing features of the home. Rather than a full overhaul, the intention was to retain and enhance what already worked well.
A key highlight of this project is the decision to preserve the original glass block walls. Instead of removing them, we integrated these elements into the overall design, allowing natural light to continue flowing through the space while adding a subtle layer of texture and character. This approach not only maintains part of the home’s original identity but also reduces unnecessary demolition.
Blending Old and New: A Warm Contemporary HDB Home
In the living room, a marble-finish TV feature wall paired with warm LED lighting creates a cosy focal point. Built-in carpentry integrates storage with a sleek bench and display niche, complementing the retained elements while elevating the overall look.
The connection between the living room and kitchen remains open and fluid, with the glass block partition acting as a soft divider. This enhances spatial flow while still defining functional zones within the home.
